The Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite
Carl A. Reber (1990), The Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, EOS Transactiions, American Geophysical Union, VOL. 71, NO. 51, Dec. 18, 1990.

Abstract:

The Upper Atmospheric Research Satellite (UARS) is an important new National Aeronatics and Space Administration program aimed at improving our knowledge of the stratosphere, mesosphere and lower thermosphere, emphasizing those levels that are known to be particularly susceptible to change by external agents. Using a combination of measurements and theorectical studies. UARS will provide a focus for resolving scientific questions about the chemistry, dynamics, and overall energy balance of the upper atmosphere.
